You only need a doctor’s note if you are unable to work and are ill for longer than seven calendar days.

We do not issue sicknotes in the first 7 days of illness. Should your employer demand evidence of illness, this is considered a private service and charges are applicable. See Non-NHS services.
Your employer will provide you with an SC2 self-certificate form for shorter periods of illness.
