GP Appointments advice

We use a system called askmyGP which is an easy and fast way to request an appointment or discuss a medical problem requiring a GP.

  • Available from 08.00am – 09.30am – Monday to Friday.
  • We aim to respond within 1 to 4 working days of receiving your message, during working hours however, routine requests may take longer. ALL requests are triaged by a senior GP in the practice, therefore, if it is deemed routine, it regarded as safe to wait longer.
  • Messages received from the practice will be received within your e-mails. Please check your spam and junk folder also.
  • You can request a particular doctor or nurse  (so long as they’re working)
  • You can choose to be contacted by the surgery by telephone, secure message or video call, however the doctor may respond in the most appropriate way they feel is the safest or most time efficient.
  • If we need to see you for an urgent problem, you must be available to attend the same day.
  • You can register for askmyGP now, without any paperwork

If you prefer to phone, one of our receptionists will take a few details about your problem or request and then pass these to the GP.

Anyone wishing urgent advice on the telephone should ring before 09.30am and a telephone appointment can be arranged.

However you choose to get in touch, your GP will contact you quickly and either sort out your problem on the phone, by secure message, or arrange to see you the same day, or another day if  it is deemed non-urgent.

askmyGP is available to all our patients, and you can use it to ask about your children or other people you care for (if they are registered with us).

That’s it – simple and straightforward!

We are encouraging everyone who has access to a computer, smart phone or tablet to use askmyGP:

  • it saves you time
  • really ill patients don’t have to wait for urgent slots at the end of surgeries
  • GP’s can manage their time more effectively, booking any follow-up appointments you might need.

Cancellations

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else. Persistent non-attendance without informing the surgery will lead to removal from our list. If a patient is removed, we are obliged to see them within 7 days, by which time the Health Authority will inform of the need to register with a new doctor.

If you have submitted a request through askmyGP and feel better before we have responded please let us know or place a message on your request.

Home visits

Please ring before 10.00 am if possible. One of our doctors will call you back to discuss. You may only request a home visit if you are housebound or are too ill to visit the practice. We are unable to provide a house visit for a child under the age of 16. See our home visit section for further information.
