Bowel screening

Bowel cancer is Scotland 3rd biggest cancer and every year over 4000 men and women are diagnosed.  In fact 1 in 20 of us will have bowel cancer at some time in or life.  Those most at risk are the over 50s – especially men – but if it is caught early it can be curable.

We at Logan Practice are committed to your health – that’s why we are encouraging you to take part in the Scottish Bowel Screening Programme, which will invite all men and women between the ages of 50 and 74 years, who are registered with a GP, to take part.

It’s a simple test which you do at home and all it takes is three trips to the toilet.

If you already have symptoms please do not wait for a test kit, instead you should see your GP without delay.

Regular bowel screening saves approximately 150 lives each year inScotland and has been shown to reduce the risk of dying from bowel cancer by 16% (Source:https://www.cancerresearchuk.org/)
